Hamburg-Zeppelin Line

Much like their ocean liner counterparts before the war years, the rigid airships now compete for the "Blue Riband" (Hales Trophy) for fastest Atlantic crossing. Hamburg-Zeppelin took the title the previous year, with the rigid airship LZ-135 Rheinlander from the American Goodyear Trans-Continental's greyhound rigid, the Theodore Roosevelt.

For anyone actually interested, that indeed is the actual Hales Trophy from 1935. It has been modified, so that upon very close inspection, the pictures of ocean liners have been replaced by airships. Thus, the transformation from 1935 Blue Riband to 1950 (airship) Blue Riband is complete. In reality, the last ocean liner to hold the Blue Riband was the United States in 1952. The Hales Trophy itself is still awarded, and is currently held by the catamaran Cat-Link V. However, having the trophy does not mean you have the Riband...
